A little weekend away....

We constantly find ourselves surrounded by electronics and distractions.  Not just in the home but everyday life; in school and even when we go out to eat.

Chili's and Buffalo Wild Wings both have table games for kids. Who needs talking anyway, right?

So this weekend we took off sans electronics and let me tell you at first I didn't think I would survive but a couple of hours in and I was sold on no electronics.

so instead we...
played hard

roasted marshmallows...

 visited with family...

 enjoyed an outdoor breakfast...

and played some more.

Plus went hiking, swimming, fishing, told campfire stories, etc.

Now its back to reality, blogging, facebook, and ignoring each other at dinner.  just kidding.

but we have decided to have more electronic free weekends in the future and i cant wait.

Unboxing V.2: April Ipsy

or should I say unbagging???

This is one of my favorite things I receive every month.  I have found some great makeup and products through Ipsy.

This month's Ipsy Glam Bag is Beautifully Bohemian.

I usually love the bag itself but this month I wasn't feeling it but my grandma already claimed it so it's not going to be unused.

On to the products:

Eye Primer by MicaBeauty
$45/8g

Great coverage with this eye primer but I am not sure I would buy it.  $45 is a bit too much.

Blush by Hikari Cosmetics
Shade: Tango
$15/.21oz

I really do love this blush. I definitely will be buying another color.

The Olive Lip Balm by Olive Natural Beauty
$6/.7oz

My first thought was that the lip balm smelled so delicious.  It really helped with my dry lips and left them feeling so soft. I will more than likely buy this in the future.

JulieG Nails by Jesses Girl in color Damsel.
$4/.35oz

I am in love with this color!  I will definitely be buying more from JulieG Nails.  The product had great coverage and left no air pockets on my nail color.

Nude Dude eye shadow by theBalm Cosmetics
$36/palette (set of 12)
Shade:  Fit

First, this packaging is amazing.  Love it.  Next, the shade was perfect for me.  I am considering buying the whole palette - they have some great colors on it.

I am very pleased with the products this month and can't wait to see what is in next months bag.
Want your own glam bag?  Check out Ipsy.

Recipe: Loaded Chicken and Potatoes

I recently saw this recipe on Facebook from Kathryn at Singing through the Rain.  I have never tried any Facebook recipes but my brother has and says he has never had a recipe he didn't like.  I changed it up just a little bit to better suit our tastes and it was fantastic.

Ingredients:
1# boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cubed into 1" pieces)
8 medium skin on red potatoes (cut into about 1/2' cubed pieces)*
1/3 c olive oil
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp garlic powder
2 tbsp hot sauce

Topping:
1 c crumpled bacon**
2 c shredded cheese***
1 c diced green onion

Directions:
01.  Preheat over to 400 degrees.
02.  Spray a 9X13" baking dish with cooking spray.
03.  In a large bowl, mix together olive oil and seasonings.  Add the cubed potatoes, onions, and chicken. Stir to coat.
04.  Put mixture into the baking dish and bake for 60 mins, stirring every 20 mins, until chicken is fully cooked and potatoes are crispy and brown on the outside.
05.  While the potatoes and chicken are cooking, fry the bacon.
06.  Once the potatoes and chicken are fully cooked, top with the cheese, bacon, and green onions.
07.  Continuing baking for about 5 mins or until the cheese is melted.

Notes:

* Make sure your potato cubes are about the same size to allowing for cooking evenly

**I normally buy turkey bacon but decided against it for this recipe.  As you can see I bought Bar S bacon because it was reasonably priced but I did not like it at all.  I would not recommend using that brand.

***I used mild cheddar because it was on sale but you can use any blended type, mild, or sharp cheddar.

Rainy Day Blues...

This past weekend has been horrible for us.  My son caught a nasty bug on Friday night.

Then he passed it on to me for Saturday.
Then I passed it on to my husband for Sunday.

this family definitely knows how to share....

Then yesterday was spent washing throw up out of sheets, clothes, and rugs.  Bleaching, scrubbing, and Lysoling.

so I was hoping today could be a day outside - in the fresh air.

rain, rain go away....

Yeah, not happening.

Unboxing V.1: Death Wish Coffee

I have to say that I was really really excited when I got my Death Wish Coffee box in.

What is Death Wish Coffee?

Heaven

or
The world's strongest coffee.

Death Wish Coffee is a company founded by Mike Brown, who after opening his coffee shop realized the demand for strong coffee.  Realizing there wasn't much out there as super strong coffee, he decided to find the perfect blend of beans for the world's strongest coffee.  After countless weeks, he found exactly what the world had been craving. Death Wish Coffee was born.

Unboxing:

I first want to state that as soon as I cut open the box, the smell was ahhhhhmazing!  I just wanted to stick my head in the box and never leave.

I am in love with the packaging/logo.

$33.98 - Death Wish & Valhalla Java Coffee Bundle.
You can either get whole beans or ground.

I literally sat for about three minutes smelling the coffee.

$29.98 Death Cup & Odin Cup single serve (20 Cups)
These are my favorite.

Death Wish Coffee also has awesome merchandise.  Shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs, travel mugs, french presses, etc. (I want it all!)

I own the hoodie they offer.
$39.99

Seriously, it is the softest hoodie I own.  I want to live in it.

and this time I got a shirt.
$19.99

So how does it taste?

Death Wish Coffee does not lie when they say its the world's strongest coffee.  I can usually drink my coffee black but I don't think I'm brave enough to drink Death Wish black. It may open up a black hole.

The flavor is very smooth and rich.  (I had Death Wish.)

This is after milk and sugar. And it's still dark.

Overall:

I would recommend this if you enjoy a strong coffee.  If you prefer a blonde roast this is definitely not for you.

Something else cool is that they have a coffee subscription for you die hard fans out there.  You can choose to do weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

You don't have to buy the combo packs.  You can buy the Death Wish flavor in 1-pound or 5-pound bag,  the cups separately (10 cups/pack), or 12 oz Valhalla Java bag.

Now go forth and buy some coffee!
you know you wanna.

Things I love Thursday V. 4

Welcome to another Things I love Thursday.  Today's edition will feature the top ten things I love from Oddity Mall. What is Oddity Mall?  It's a website featuring awesome inventions, weird gadgets, and unique gifts from across the web.  Now they do say its for men but honestly I love them and I believe many women would love some of these gifts too.

01.  Prank Candle  Starts out smelling like apple pie - then it turns horribly wrong.  Mwahahaha.

02.  Garden hose.  Which is actually a pretty awesome idea.  Drips water in your garden.

03.  Sinking Titanic Ship Cat Playground.  So I don't have a cat, yet.  And I can't see spending $2,000 on a cat toy but you can't deny this is pretty awesome.

05.  Heart Shaped Handle Coffee Mug.  I am addicted to coffee mugs and these are so adorable.

06.  Rolled Omelette Making Pan.  Because I suck at making omelettes.

07.  BalKonzept:  A balcony desk and flower pot.  These are adorable.  I would love to hang them on a porch.

08.  Freddy Krueger Dog Costume.  The dogs may hate it but I love dressing them up.

09.  Giant Hammock.  I love love hammocks and this is a beast of a hammock.

10.  Mr. Sponge.   Need I say more?

Book Review: Perfectly Broken

Disclaimer:  May contain spoilers.

Perfectly Broken by Maegan Abel was emailed to me on a list of free Amazon books.  I usually always get the romance books if they are free, even though I am usually heartbroken by how bad they are.  This book was an exception.

Liliosa Cortez "Lili", Zane Tishler, and Jared Tishler "Tish"  along with Kas - Tish's girlfriend who spends more time there than her own place- are a crazy mix-up of roommates.  Lili met Tish and he instantly took in the little pint size fireball.  Then Zane moved in after his divorce from scuzzy Lizzie.

Lili and Zane spend lots of time partying and hooking up with other people but soon jealousy comes in to play and they both realize something is there. Neither want to ruin what friendship they have because of past issues but there is no denying the chemistry.  And through several mess ups on Zane's part, several tears on Lili's part, and several threats on Tish and Kas's part, they finally settling into a relationship but it isn't easy.

There is a lot of twist and turns in this book (some waaaay out there and some that are pointless). But it definitely kept me on my toes and once I started getting into the book, I couldn't put it down.

What I didn't like:

Seriously how man times can Zane go back to his ex-wife and it be ok?  Yes I know they give him hell for it but I don't think he is ever held responsible for it.

When the book  starts I feel like instead of describing the characters, Abel was trying to sell the characters to us.

Lizzie.

Cliffhanger.

What I did like:

Roommates turned lovers.

Zane as a daddy.

Tish and Kas's relationship.  ♥

Zane and Lili when their relationship is good ♥

Overall:

Even though parts of the book feel pointless, I still really enjoyed this book.  The love, when it was good, was sweet and honest.  I give it four angst filled hearts.

you can follow what I am reading on my Goodreads page.

Easter 2015

I hope everyone had a happy Easter.

It didn't start out to great for us.  JJ had an earache most likely caused by his "flu".

but he told me that he would feel better because it was Easter.

We spent the day at my grandma's house with family and enjoyed some good food.

Peeps S'mores

Even though JJ was out sick for his class's Easter party I still decided to send a little snack and of course I turned to Pinterest.

I found cute Peeps S'mores on Craftibilities.  It looks so simple and cute.  All you need is some Peeps, miniature chocolate bars, graham crackers, snack size baggies, and a label of some sort.

Besides being adorable, they taste delicious.

I didn't use Craftibilities premade labels.  I just grabbed an Avery label (I used label #18163) and you can make your own label on their website.  They have several graphics, fonts, and designs to choose from plus you can print directly off of Avery.

But you see these cute little bunnies here?

When you wait until the day before like I did, they are very hard to find.  I went to three stores and only found one back of regular peeps.  The stores had tons of chick Peeps and mysterious flavored Peeps.

yeah, not trying those.

Happy Good Friday y'all!

April Fool's Day

I have always hated April Fool's Day

and today just added to the misery my poor baby has the flu!

He started Tami-flu and the doctor says by Friday he should be feeling better.

Fingers crossed.
